BURBANK : Airport Urged to Soundproof School
The Los Angeles City Council has voted to urge the Burbank Airport to make the soundproofing of a nearby elementary school the top priority in its airplane noise-abatement program.
On a unanimous vote Tuesday, the council adopted the measure by Councilman Ernani Bernardi to urge the airport to soundproof the Glenwood Elementary School in Sun Valley. The 850-student school is located at the north end of the airport.
Burbank Airport officials last week refused to say if they will make the school their next soundproofing project. The airport is now trying to complete a soundproofing project at Luther Burbank Middle School.
