Bishop Montgomery Blanks Santa Ana Valley

Share

Santa Ana Valley Coach Scott Strosnider was not offering any excuses after Bishop Montgomery beat his team, 6-0, Friday night at Bishop Montgomery High.

“I’ll take full responsibility for the loss,” Strosnider said. “Our offense never got going in the second half, and that’s why we lost.”

Santa Ana Valley (2-3) never got going in the second half because the Falcons lost running back Dwayne Charrington due to a knee injury early in the second half. In the first half, the sophomore carried 19 times for 68 yards.

The Knights (2-1-2) scored with 4:22 remaining in the game when tailback Eric Chaney ran four yards for a touchdown.

The Falcons’ best chance to score a touchdown came later in the game when senior defensive end Corey Schuld recovered a fumble at the Knights’ 22.

However, the four plays that followed netted minus-two yards.
