Deion Sanders came from Pittsburgh and Dan Marino came from behind--again.

Marino connected with Tony Martin for a 46-yard gain to set up the winning touchdown with 5:01 left, and the Miami Dolphins overtook the Atlanta Falcons, 21-17, Sunday.

The Dolphins (5-0) are the only undefeated team in the NFL. Marino brought them from behind to win in the fourth quarter for the third time this season and the 21st time in his 10-year career.

“Nothing changes,” Falcon Coach Jerry Glanville said. “He’s the best. I thought we had them where we wanted them.”

Miami’s Vestee Jackson turned the game around by scoring on a 30-yard interception return to trim Atlanta’s lead to 17-14 in the third quarter.

On Miami’s winning drive, which covered 77 yards in seven plays, Martin beat former Dolphin cornerback Tim McKyer on a long pass to the 15-yard line. Mark Higgs scored his second touchdown of the game four plays later on a one-yard run.

Atlanta (2-4) reached Miami’s 12, but lost the ball on downs with 35 seconds left. Liffort Hobley broke up Chris Miller’s pass to Keith Jones on fourth-and-seven.

Atlanta appeared in control until Jackson stepped in front of Miller’s sideline pass intended for Mike Pritchard and raced untouched to the end zone.

“They had run several plays like that,” Jackson said. “I was watching for it. It was just a matter of time. I saw the quarterback’s eyes, and then I saw his arm go up, so I broke on it.”

Miller threw touchdown passes of 18 yards to Pritchard and 22 yards to Andre Rison, and Norm Johnson kicked a 52-yard field goal for Atlanta.

Sanders was flagged for a 47-yard interference penalty on a pass to Mark Duper, but the Dolphins failed to capitalize.

Sanders also played on offense and gained nine yards on a flanker screen. He returned a punt for one yard and two kickoffs for 42 yards.

Miami took a 7-0 lead on a 14-yard run by Higgs, but then squandered four scoring chances.

One week after scoring 37 points in an upset at Buffalo, and facing an Atlanta defense ranked last in the NFL, Miami had reason to expect a big day offensively. The Dolphins scored first on a 14-yard run by Higgs, but then squandered four scoring chances.

Tony Paige lost a fumble at Atlanta’s 30-yard line, a holding penalty pushed Miami out of field-goal range after reaching the 31, and Pete Stoyanovich missed two 50-yard field-goal attempts.

“We weren’t playing well, but we stayed in the game,” Coach Don Shula said. “How could you keep playing as well as last week?”

The Dolphins also won their first five games in 1972 and 1984, and went on to the Super Bowl both seasons.
