PRO FOOTBALL: DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Ticket Count Ties Second Highest

Share

The Raiders sold out the Coliseum for Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys, with all 92,488 tickets distributed.

But with 983 no-shows, the official attendance was 91,505.

It was the third time the Raiders have reached that ticket figure, the second highest in team history. A regular-season game against the San Francisco 49ers last year and a playoff game against the Cincinnati Bengals at the end of the 1990 season also resulted in 92,488 tickets distributed.

The all-time box office champ remains a 1986 regular-season game against the Denver Broncos for which the ticket count was 92,496.

In terms of actual bodies in the Coliseum, Sunday’s game was second only to the 92,045 who showed up for the Cincinnati playoff game.

With a bye this week, the Raiders, coming off Sunday’s 28-13 loss to Dallas, will get some time off, courtesy of Coach Art Shell.

They will practice each of the next three mornings, but get the afternoons off. Practice usually isn’t over until about 4:30.

After a weekend off, the team will resume its normal practice schedule next week in preparation for the Nov. 8 game against the Eagles at Philadelphia.

If the Raiders return the way they did a year ago, Shell will be more than happy. His players also lost their final game before their bye last season, falling to the Kansas City Chiefs, 24-21. But after the week off the Raiders won four in a row.
