Voting Advice on Newport Beach Lease and Term Limits

Share

What fools the city makes of the people of Newport Beach with Measure M. The ballot measure deviously states (that) it amends the City Charter so (that) “the lease of city-owned property is limited to the term permitted by state law.”

What it really does is take away the right the people now have to vote on waterfront property leases. We can’t blame the measure’s chief beneficiary, the Balboa Bay Club, if it passes--only the people (who don’t read) and the City Council members who want more power (arguing disingenuously that it will “avoid the need to raise taxes”).
