Laguna Art Museum raised $36,625 with Perspectives 1992, a series of fund-raising events. The money will be used for museum programs during the 1992-1993 fiscal year.

The second annual design competition, held Friday by the Laguna Beach Architectural Guild, yielded 20 architecture, furniture, interior design and landscape architecture awards for city-based firms and projects.

Honor awards went to: Morris Skenderian & Assoc. for plans for a condominium project in North Laguna; Jana Ruzicka for landscaping a beach cliff residence; and Mark Singer for designing his own residence and a student desk.

Merit award recipients were: Ernest Velarde for the renovating the Van Vliet residence; Gregory Abel for designing a conference table; Piper Hertneck for landscaping the Three Arch Bay residence; and Mark Singer for plans for the Latter residence.

Honorable mentions went to Velarde, Abel, Blair Ballard & Assoc., Joe Lynch, Robert McGraw, Neil Pinney, L.A. Studio, Weston Whitfield Assoc., Tim Krehbiel and Domaine Design.

The contest attracted 33 entrants in eight categories: new residential, rehab (renovated) residential, new commercial, rehab commercial, landscapes, interiors, furniture and fixtures, and “on the boards” (designs for projects that have not yet been built). No awards were made in either of the commercial categories.
