EL CAJON : Wrong-Way Car Leaves 2 Hurt
A car traveling the wrong way on a freeway in El Cajon early Friday collided head-on with another car, sending both drivers to the hospital with serious injuries, authorities said.
Authorities said Tiffany Ann Graves, 26, of Pacific Beach was driving a Mazda west on eastbound Interstate 8 when she collided head-on with a Chevrolet near the Marshall Avenue underpass. Graves, who was alone in her car, was taken by Life Flight helicopter to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where she was listed in serious condition after surgery Friday afternoon.
The Chevrolet’s driver, Timothy Wayne Tyler, 32, of El Cajon was taken by ambulance to Sharp Memorial and was listed in serious condition after surgery Friday afternoon. Tyler was the only person in the Chevrolet, said CHP Officer Mona DeMello-Hoss.
Graves got on I-8 by way of the Johnson Avenue off-ramp, and was driving with a flat tire before the collision, DeMello-Hoss said.
