Littlerock Man Injured When Bull Tramples Him

A 61-year-old man was trampled by a bull after it apparently broke through the wooden gate of its pen in Palmdale, authorities said Sunday.

Paul Pappan of Littlerock was listed in fair condition Sunday at Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The bull was butchered for beef after the Saturday incident, the owner told Los Angeles County animal care and control officers.

But authorities said they still had to verify that the animal was destroyed.

Pappan was on his way to feed the bull at a small ranch in the 19100 block of East Avenue Q about 10 p.m. Saturday when the bull “attacked the man and trampled him,” Los Angeles Sheriff’s Deputy John O’Neal said.

Animal control authorities described Pappan as a caretaker at the ranch.

Witnesses called authorities, and deputies held the bull at bay until paramedics arrived, O’Neal said.
