PREP NOTES : Williams Signs With San Jose State

Mater Dei guard Marmet Williams has signed to play at San Jose State, Monarch Coach Gary McKnight said Monday.

Williams, who is 6 feet 5, is the fifth player from this season’s Monarch team to commit to a four-year college.

Capistrano Valley third baseman Brian Benner has signed a national letter of intent to attend Cal State Long Beach, according to his coach, Bob Zamora.

As a junior, Benner batted .475, hit four home runs and drove in 27 runs in leading the Cougars to a 21-6 record. He was a first-team, All-South Coast League selection.

Laguna Beach middle blocker Anne Swayne has signed to play volleyball at Oregon next season, Artist Coach Mike Soylular said Monday.
