Coach: Kerry Krause (third year).
1991-92: 24-3-2, 8-0-2 in league; shared South Coast League title with Mission Viejo; lost to Mater Dei 1-0 in Division 4-A title match.
Key returners: Julie Bargiel, Sr., midfielder; Jenny Clabaugh, Sr., sweeper; Yvonne Dalton, Sr., forward; Traci Jensen, Sr., goalkeeper; Sherri Kaminski, Sr., midfielder; Denise Kenyon, Sr., forward; Jenny Kleugel, Sr., midfielder; Jill Pool, Jr., defender; Shannon Quinn, Sr., stopper; Amanda Stack, Sr., midfielder; Kelly Thomson, Sr., forward; Paige Viloria, Sr., defender.
Key newcomer: Jenny Fricke, So., forward.
Outlook: El Toro, which for the first time in three seasons isn’t the defending champion, won’t have an easy path back to the top. Mater Dei’s entry into the South Coast League makes the section’s toughest league even more brutal, and the Chargers open the league season against the Monarchs. El Toro is loaded with talented seniors but much depends on how goalie Jensen recovers from foot surgery. “If she’s not healthy, I look for us to have trouble finishing third,” Krause said.
