Steve Elkington overcame wet and windy conditions to shoot a two-over-par 74 for a two-stroke victory in the Australian Open golf championship at Sydney. The Texas-based Australian finished with an eight-under-par 280. Tied for second at 282 were Peter McWhinney and Duffy Waldorf.
