OUTLOOK

With talented players the size of Carlsen and Underwood, Jenkins is convinced no previous Eagle team has had the type of personnel his current squad has. Or the potential. “Without any question, this is the best team in CVC history,” he said. “We are going to be very balanced. We’ll have good quickness outside and the two big guys will allow us to match up with most of the (opposing) teams.” Carlsen averaged 10 points and Underwood nine last season, but Jenkins hopes their muscle and intimidating presence will reap benefits for the Eagles. Outside scoring will come from Jennings (eight-point average) and Rodarmel, who averaged 20 points and was an All-Olympic League selection last year. “He can shoot the ball. He’s pretty tough to defend,” Jenkins said. Patterson, a transfer from Temecula Valley, will play a lot at the point. “He’s exciting. He’s extremely quick,” Jenkins said. The Eagles finished sixth in the seven-team league in 1992, but Jenkins expects a big improvement this season. “We should be as good as (defending league champion) Brethren (Christian),” he said. “We will be in every game.”
