OUTLOOK

The Eagles, another team that has switched leagues, moved to the Olympic League after winning the Arrowhead League title last season. In their third year of varsity competition, the Eagles return six players, including three all-league performers. One of them, Younger, led the county in rebounding with a 14.6 average and also averaged 16.4 points. He is being recruited by St. Mary’s and Valparaiso, among others. Hesterly, who averaged 10.1 points and shot 47% from three-point range, also will figure prominently in Middleton’s plans. Lubbock, however, might be out until league play starts. The two-year starter, who averaged 9.4 points and 8.4 assists, is recovering from a collapsed lung. With him in the lineup, Middleton feels the Eagles are a team to reckon with. “We’ve got to be one of the top 25 teams in the county,” Middleton said. “If we do a good job of keeping the players playing their roles, we’ll do very well.” Herr, who averaged 19 points and 13 rebounds as the most valuable player on the junior varsity squad, probably will be at center. Jones is also up from the junior varsity, where he averaged 16.0 points. He provides depth at forward.
