Two new deans have been appointed at Mission College, President Jack Fujimoto has announced.

Eloise Fernando-Cantrell of Northridge, a family and consumer studies instructor, has been named the dean of vocational and technical education and economic development. She replaces Tyree Wieder, who last year became vice president of academic affairs at Valley College.

Carlotta Tronto of Valencia replaces Victoria Munoz Richart, who in June was named the college’s vice president of academic affairs, as dean of academic affairs.

A founding faculty member at Mission College, which opened in 1975, Cantrell has initiated several vocational and instructional transfer programs for the school.

She also developed the Future Teachers Institute and was Faculty Senate president for three terms.

Tronto came to Mission in 1986 as a physical education instructor and later became athletic director. More recently, she headed a faculty group known as Cluster B, supervising 29 full-time and 110 part-time faculty in 18 disciplines.
