Pomona : Salvation Army ‘Angel Tags’

Share

The Salvation Army in Pomona has begun a campaign aimed at distributing 2,200 toys and 600 food baskets to needy area families at Christmas.

Christmas trees bearing “angel tags,” each listing the name of a needy child, his age and a suggested gift, have been placed at the entrances of the K mart store at 1600 Foothill Blvd., La Verne, and the Price Club, 2001 S. Garey Ave., Pomona. Customers are invited to take a tag, buy a gift and give it to a Salvation Army volunteer for distribution.

Maj. Moses Reyes, commander of the Salvation Army in Pomona, said the organization is also seeking public support for its Christmas basket and adopt-a-family programs. Donations of hams, turkeys and non-perishable items are being sought, along with cash to pay for Christmas baskets that will be assembled Dec. 19 for distribution to families in Claremont, La Verne and Pomona, he said.
