Cavanaugh has the tough task of replacing Greg Hoffman, who left last spring to take over at Marina. “We return some really good players, and our experience is solid,” Cavanaugh said. “But I’m not sure how well I blend with our group of seniors.” Hoffman was considered the league’s toughest, most demanding coach, but he also had a close bond with his players. Cavanaugh said it will take time for the players to adjust to the new coaching staff and its new system. “I haven’t changed things a lot,” he said. “We’ve had some subtle changes offensively and defensively. Personality-wise and coaching-wise, Greg and I are very, very different.” Chris Jackson, last year’s leading scorer (18 points), has graduated. His leadership role will likely fall to Floyd, who averaged 13 points and was a first-team all-league selection. Hensley, an all-league honorable mention player, averaged 10 points; Etter averaged nine points and six rebounds and Cook four points and seven rebounds. Lindemeyer and Joseph have been promoted from the junior varsity, and Brennan is a second-year varsity player.
