Reward in Drive-By Slaying
El Monte —
A $3,000 reward for the apprehension and conviction of the killer or killers of an El Monte High School ninth-grader was unanimously approved by the City Council.
Alin Garcia, 14, a bystander, was killed in a Nov. 22 drive-by shooting that also claimed the life of gang member David Tornell, 19, police said. Three people were wounded in the attack.
The reward money will come from the city’s forfeiture fund of assets seized in drug-related crimes, or from the city’s general fund.
