Eight armed teen-agers robbed passengers aboard a Southern California Rapid Transit District bus in Watts on Tuesday, authorities said.

At one point, one of the youths held a gun to the head of a 3- year-old girl so he could steal her mother’s earrings, the bus driver said.

About $300 in cash and valuables was taken from the eight passengers, said Sgt. Chris Bonilla of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Southeast Division.

Bonilla said authorities believe the same gang has held up other buses in the area.

The holdup occurred at 103rd Street and Lou Dillon Avenue near the Jordan Downs housing project about 6 p.m., said bus driver Bill Betsky.

“They just marched on the bus, started cussing and threatening, and then robbed everybody, about five adults and three small children,” Betsky said. “After they got everything, money and jewelry, they just ran off.”
