COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Heredia, Lax Spark Christ College Irvine

Agustin Heredia scored 21 points and Darren Lax added 20 as Christ College Irvine beat Fresno Pacific, 71-66, in a Golden State Athletic Conference men’s basketball game Tuesday in Irvine.

Heredia, from Orange Coast College, was eight of 13 from the field. Lax was seven of 12 for Christ College Irvine (7-7, 1-0 in conference).

Christ College Irvine dominated in rebounding, 30-14. D’Andre Brown had eight rebounds to lead Christ College Irvine.

In another Golden State Athletic Conference men’s basketball game:

Azusa Pacific 111, Southern California College 109--Bob Terry, a former Fullerton College standout, scored 24 points and Ronnie Winbush had 23 to lead Azusa Pacific (14-2) in the conference opener.

Southern California College (9-7) got 26 points from Scott Campbell and 17 each from Tony Hyner, Mike West and Danin Bryant.

In Golden State Athletic Conference women’s basketball:

Christ College Irvine 51, Fresno Pacific 48--Stacy Kirch had 15 points and five assists and Genevieve Graff had 11 points and five steals for host Christ College Irvine (13-4, 2-0). Fresno Pacific is 9-6, 1-1.

In Big West Conference men’s swimming:

UC Irvine 138, Pacific 68--Blair Cannon won the 200-yard individual medley and 100 freestyle for host Irvine (2-3, 1-0).
