An unidentified elderly woman was hit by a car and killed as she walked across Woodley Avenue in Van Nuys, police said Thursday.
The woman, believed to be in her 70s, was crossing Woodley near Haynes Street about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when she was hit by car headed north on Woodley, Los Angeles police said.
The coroner’s office has not been able to identify her and believes that she may have wandered away from her family or a convalescent home, coroner’s spokesman Scott Carrier said.
She was pronounced dead about 7:30 p.m. at Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys, police said, adding that the driver, Sonia R. Pineda, 36, of North Hills, was not cited.
