Sacramento Women Rout CSUN, 86-48

Cal State Sacramento jumped to a 19-point halftime lead en route to an 86-48 rout of Cal State Northridge in a women’s nonconference basketball game Saturday night at Northridge.

It was the seventh consecutive loss for Northridge (4-11), which is 1-5 at home.

The score was tied, 8-8, with 14 minutes 18 seconds left in the first half when Sacramento broke open the game with a 12-2 run.

Forward Kristy Ryan led Sacramento (9-5) with 25 points, hitting 10 of 20 field-goal attempts. Center Chalmers Bebber added 10 points.

Jody Bittner led the Matadors with 18 points. Haily Griffith and Michelle Esparza each added eight points.

Sacramento hit 21 of 37 free throws, the Matadors only two of eight.

The Hornets also enjoyed a wide rebounding margin. Sacramento pulled down 56 rebounds to the Matadors’ 39.

Sacramento shot 53% from the field en route to a 45-26 halftime lead.
