‘Old Boy’ Club at Work Again

Share

Again we see the power of the Ventura County “old boy” club as they fire H. Jere Robings for being too “political” in his criticism of the now exposed county perks (“Taxpayers Assn. Fires Vocal Perks Critic” Jan. 6).

Who are the members of the executive committee that “decided that the direction Jere was going in was not the direction that they wanted to go” as stated by Lindsay Nielson, association president?

What Jere Robings has done is make the taxpayers of Ventura County aware of the special privileges given our elected officials--perks that have been hidden from us by subterfuge over the past few years while the county says, “We can’t afford this (or that).”

I spent a year on the Ventura County grand jury. And believe me, there is a network of county people who “run” this county, regardless of your vote--both Republican and Democrat.

Good luck, Jere, and thanks from the citizens for what you attempted to do. And to the Taxpayers Assn., pick up your golf bags and go back to the clubhouse for drinks with the “old boys.”
