Lunkers Come in From Rain
Constant rain kept most anglers home the past week, but some who weathered the storms were rewarded--notably, Doug Fields of Santee, who caught a San Diego County-record 56-pound 7-ounce blue catfish at San Vicente Lake.
Fields used a Fat Rap lure in Kimball Arm.
At Lake Skinner in Riverside County, Russell Seese of Rancho Cucamonga caught a 34-pound, 8-ounce striped bass that was only a half-pound off the lake record set two weeks ago.
Elsewhere, high water and messy road conditions shut down fishing at some sites in Southern California (see Outdoor Notes on this page), but most are expected to reopen by this weekend.
