SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO : Panel Seeks Input on Boundary Changes

Share

Parents in the Capistrano Unified School District will have an opportunity this week and early next month to offer their suggestions about proposed high school attendance boundary changes for the coming school year.

Public hearings will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday in the Fred Newhart Middle School multipurpose room in Mission Viejo; on Feb. 2 in the Marco F. Forster Middle School cafeteria in San Juan Capistrano, and on Feb. 3 at the Dana Hills High School mall in Dana Point.

In recent months, a committee has been meeting to come up with new high school boundary changes needed with the scheduled September, 1993, opening of Aliso Niguel High School in Aliso Viejo.

With the new school, attendance lines will need to change for the district’s other three high schools, officials said.

The Board of Trustees will consider the changes in early March. A final recommendation will be made by the committee on Feb. 4.

“The High School Attendance Boundary Committee requested these three community meetings in an effort to receive as much input as possible from parents regarding boundary changes,” said Tom Anthony, director of secondary schools.
