Jamal Mashburn scored 27 points to power fourth-ranked Kentucky to 105-67 victory over Louisiana State, which lost Coach Dale Brown early in the second half on technical fouls in a Southeastern Conference game at Lexington, Ky., on Tuesday night.

Brown picked up his first technical at halftime after conferring with referee John Clougherty. Brown grabbed Clougherty’s arm, but the official pulled away from him and went to the locker room.

At the start of the second half, with Kentucky leading by 54-26, Travis Ford made two free throws on the technical to give the Wildcats (14-1, 5-1) a 30-point lead over LSU (13-5, 3-3).

After LSU’s Geert Hammink made a jumper, Brown said something to referee Kerry Sitton that resulted in another technical and Brown’s ejection.

“All I said was--God is my witness, ‘Call a foul.’ That’s all I said,” said Brown, adding that it was the first time he had been ejected from a game. “It was almost like, ‘We’ll show him.’ That’s a total injustice.”

Brown said the first technical came after he told Clougherty that the other two referees were “gutless.”

Brown said Clougherty told him before the start of the second half that he was being assessed a technical foul.

“I said, ‘John, don’t do this,” said Brown. “John said, ‘You can’t talk about my partners like that.’

“One consolation about the game tonight is that I can wear this same shirt against South Carolina (on Saturday),” Brown said.

In an embarrassing loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday, Miami (5-10, 3-5) huddled too long after a timeout and left the Panthers alone on the court to make a game-tying layup in the final seconds. There were no such blunders against Connecticut (9-5, 4-4).

Sophomore center Constantin Popa led Miami with 21 points and 12 rebounds.

No. 7 Duke 117, San Francisco 73-- Bobby Hurley keyed an 18-2 first-half run and Cherokee Parks had a career-high 21 points, making all nine of his shots, as the Blue Devils (14-3) beat the Dons (12-7) for their 79th consecutive nonconference home victory.

Hurley had 13 points and seven assists to move into fifth place on the NCAA assist list with 943. He is 96 shy of the leader, North Carolina State’s Chris Corchiani.
