BIGGEST WIN IN 49ER HISTORY : 49ers Also Hit Jackpot 5 Years Ago
Cal State Long Beach’s victory at Kansas on Monday night was its most stunning upset on the road since March 3, 1988, when the 49ers defeated Nevada Las Vegas, 79-77.
In that game, which shocked a crowd of 18,310 at the Thomas and Mack Center, Morlon Wiley made two free throws with one second left to beat the Runnin’ Rebels, who were ranked No. 5 in the country at the time.
Other stars for the 49ers that night were Rigo Moore, Andre Purry, DeAnthony Langston and Billy Walker.
Seth Greenberg, now the head coach, was then an assistant to Joe Harrington, who is now coaching Colorado.
“This was my lucky day,” Harrington said after the game. During the afternoon, he had won a slot machine jackpot of more than $3,000.
