A 32-year-old man traveling with his wife and three children was confronted by an armed man who demanded the family’s sedan during a carjacking in Burbank, police said Monday.

No arrests have been made in the crime, which took place in the 700 block of South Lake Street about 9:45 p.m. Friday, Burbank Police Sgt. Bob Brode said. No one was injured.

Alberto Gonzalez of Los Angeles was getting out of his car when he saw another car stop nearby, Brode said. The next thing he realized, Gonzalez told police, a man was holding a pistol to his head.

The gunman demanded the keys to Gonzalez’s car, and Gonzalez handed them over, Brode said. Gonzalez pleaded with the gunman to free his wife, Maria, 30, and their children. They were allowed to leave the car.

The gunman then got into Gonzalez’s car and tried to make a U-turn, colliding with the car that he and two other men had arrived in, Brode said.

The robbers drove both cars away and neither has been found, Brode said.
