Can any school match the double-whammy scoring punch now on display at Kennedy High? According to Cal-Hi Sports, the answer is no.

Scoring: Royal’s Steve Hodge has made 40 of 80 three-point attempts. . . . Five Simi Valley players are shooting better than 30% from three-point range: Sean Malia (20 of 65; 30.8%), Jeremy Roberts (25-83; 30.1%), Jeff Barlow (17-51; 33.3%), Nathan Simmons (3-10; 30%) and Ryan Briggs (20-54; 37.0%). The Pioneers have made 109 of 355 (30.7%) from three-point range. . . .

Canoga Park is shooting 45.6% (45 of 101) from three-point range and 50.8% (245 of 482) from the field. But the Hunters have made only 66.5% (141 of 212) of their free throws. . . .

Guards Gabe Colon of Burroughs, Greg Minor of Canyon and forward Matt Steffe of Hart are the Foothill League’s top three-point shooters. Colon leads the league in three-pointers made (55 of 132) and percentage (41.7%). Minor follows with 47 of 116, 40.5%. Steffe, who leads the league in scoring (22.1) and rebounding (9.5), has made 37 of 112 three-point shots (33.0%). . . .

Grant junior forward Rick Forscutt, who is averaging 9.1 points, is shooting 69.1% (56 of 81) from the field but only 63.4% (33 of 52) from the line. . . . Hoover’s Joe Khouzam is 14 of 22 (63.6%) from three-point range in his past three games. . . .

Village Christian’s Dave Fennell is approaching the school career scoring record. Again. Fennell and Coach Brian Gibson thought he had set the record earlier this season, but a former Village Christian coach dug up the stats of David Smith, who scored 1,044 points in the late 1960s. Fennell is 28 points from the record.

Miscellany: Thousand Oaks extended its winning streak to 16 games with victories last week over Simi Valley and Newbury Park. . . . Ventura, which has not won a Channel League championship since 1983, is 10-0 with a two-game lead over Santa Barbara with four games to play. The Cougars have won 10 in a row. . . .
