Murder Suspect Is Held in Buena Park
A Santa Ana man suspected of fatally shooting a 17-year-old in mid-December was arrested Friday night.
Jose Luis Lopez, 20, was arrested without incident by police at 5:30 p.m. at the home of relatives in Lancaster, Buena Park Police Lt. James Schoales said.
“Detectives had been working real hard at locating him, and they found out where he was staying,” Schoales said.
Lopez is suspected of shooting Joe Lorenzano, of Buena Park, on Dec. 19.
Lorenzano, of Buena Park, died a week later at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
The shooting, which police said was gang-related, occurred in the 8000 block of 8th Street. Schoales said Lopez had been a suspect “almost from the very beginning.”
