WHALE TALE: Few had heard of Robert Wyland when he was commissioned 11 years ago by the Orange County Marine Institute to paint a life-size whale on its classroom wall. Since then, Wyland has gained worldwide recognition for his 33 “Whaling Walls.” The latest was his biggest yet, on the outside of the Long Beach Convention Center. . . . To celebrate Wyland’s work, his institute mural will be rededicated during the annual Festival of the Whales, which opens Saturday in Dana Point. (OC Live!, Page 10)
