OUTLOOK Last season was rebuilding year with five sophomores on the varsity. “Hopefully, those sophomores have matured,” Ilertsen said. “We have 10 players who started varsity games last year, and our junior class is really good.” The best of the juniors is pitcher Rick Parmenter, who was 2-5 with a 4.71 earned-run average as a sophomore. Parmenter, who has a 4.3 grade-point average, attended Stanford’s all-star summer camp where he impressed coaches and scouts with his poise and 80 m.p.h. fastball. The No. 2 starter is Hostetler, a 6-foot-6, 215-pound junior. “A year from now, Hostetler and Parmenter could be household names in the county,” Ilertsen said. But the key player on the team is Logan, who moves from third base to shortstop. He hit .276 as a sophomore and was the county’s seventh-ranked passer as a quarterback for the football team last fall. “He’s our leader,” Ilertsen said. “He was the goalie on our soccer team, so he’s a proven leader in every sport he plays.” Burchit, a second-team all-league selection as a junior, is the team’s top returning hitter with a .360 average.
