Ralphs Grocery Chooses Marasca as New President
Ralphs Grocery Co. selected Alfred A. Marasca, formerly executive vice president, as its new president. Marasca, 51, succeeds Patrick Collins, who will serve as vice president and chief operating officer until his planned retirement in March, 1994.
Byron Allumbaugh, chairman and chief executive of the Compton-based grocery chain, said Marasca was selected president to ensure a smooth transition before the retirement of Collins, 64.

Ralphs Grocery--Patrick Collins, former president of Ralphs Grocery Co., has moved to the position of vice chairman at Ralphs. A story in Friday’s editions misidentified his new assignment.
Marasca joined Ralphs in 1957 and held various positions in store operations, personnel and marketing. Marasca was named vice president for marketing in 1976, and senior vice president in 1978. He was promoted to executive vice president of retailing in 1991.
