Michael Jordan and his ailing feet came to the rescue of the Chicago Bulls again.

Jordan scored 52 points to lead the Bulls to a 123-108 victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night at Chicago. It was the 32nd time that Jordan has scored 50 or more points in his career.

Jordan put Chicago in control with 22 points in the third quarter, 11 coming in the final two minutes.

The game was Jordan’s third after missing two games because of a foot infection. He scored 29 points in the Bulls’ losing effort against the Miami Heat on Thursday.

“It was a good win after last night,” Jordan said. “We played some good defense in the fourth quarter and it was a good way to finish the game off and give us some confidence.”

Jordan said he was feeling good during the game, noting that the infection of a corn, which kept him out of two games, is going away.

Jordan showed signs of healing, but forward Horace Grant did not suit up for the game because of tendinitis in his left knee.

“Being that Horace wasn’t here, I had to carry a little more of the offensive load than usual,” Jordan said. “And I got hot.”

Atlanta 110, Orlando 92--Dominique Wilkins scored 35 points and Jon Koncak held Shaquille O’Neal to seven-of-22 shooting to lead the Hawks over the Magic at Atlanta.

Wilkins, who has scored at least 30 points in six of his last eight games, led the Hawks in scoring for the 28th time in 30 games.

O’Neal had 22 points and 13 rebounds.

New York 109, Washington 98--Patrick Ewing had 19 points and 10 rebounds at Washington as the Knicks won their fifth in a row.

New York, which began the night fourth in NBA team rebounding, had a 49-33 advantage on the boards, including a 27-16 margin during the second half.

Milwaukee 115, Boston 109--Blue Edwards and Eric Murdock scored 23 points as the Bucks ended a 14-game losing streak at Boston Garden.

The Bucks, who last won in Boston on April 12, 1985, also ended the Celtics’ four-game winning streak overall.

Phoenix 116, Dallas 98--In a matchup of teams with the league’s best and worst records, Cedric Ceballos continued his scoring binge with 24 points. The Mavericks remained winless on the road this season (0-28).
