Grammy winners Arrested Development will precede their expected participation on the “Lollapalooza ‘93” tour by releasing an “Unplugged” album, recorded during MTV sessions in December by an expanded 17-piece lineup. MTV will air the appearance on March 21, and the album is due March 23. . . .

Prince will follow his recent Glam Slam appearances in L.A. and Minneapolis with a special invitation-only show at Harlem’s Apollo Theatre on March 27, the first show at the historic venue by the musician. The show will come after a March 24-26 stand at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. Some tickets will be given to Harlem youth programs. . . .

Boogie Down Productions has finished a new album, which is due in stores this summer. BDP mainstay KRS-One (Kris Parker) has been lying low lately, spending time with his new-born son, whom he has nicknamed KRS-One-Two. . . . The Beastie Boys will start work on a new album next month. Plans are for the rap trio to again perform much of the music on real instruments as on last year’s “Check Your Head,” rather than rely on sampling. . . .

Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith, the toothy twosome of Tears for Fears, have each finished their first albums since splitting up last year. Orzabal, who will continue using theTFF name, is first up with the album “Elemental,” due in June. A single, “Break It Down Again,” will be released in May. Smith’s album will follow in the fall or winter. . . .

R&B; singer and “Martin” co-star Tisha Campbell’s new video for the song “Love Me Down” is a hip-hop homage to “Singin’ in the Rain.” Original “Rain” star Gene Kelly’s son Tim served as assistant director on the clip, which will premiere on BET this week. . . .

Ric Ocasek, former Cars driver, has a new solo album, “Negative Theater,” due April 13. Ocasek also has published a book of poetry and photography with the same title.

Singer-songwriter Katy Moffatt may have to change the name of her recent Rounder Records album, “The Greatest Show on Earth.” Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus officials notified her that the company owns the phrase.
