COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Millan Has Five RBIs, Titans Beat Northridge to Push Streak to Four

Cal State Fullerton won for the fourth consecutive time, defeating Cal State Northridge, 12-4, in a nonconference baseball game Wednesday at Fullerton.

Adam Millan had three hits, including a triple, and drove in five runs for Fullerton (12-7), ranked seventh nationally by Baseball America.

Northridge (15-3), which was seeking the 1,000th victory in the 35-year history of the program, is ranked 13th in the same poll.

Millan had a two-run triple during the Titans’ four-run third inning that gave them a 4-2 lead. They added four runs in the fourth to take an 8-4 lead.Jeff Ferguson had four hits--including three doubles--and scored three runs for Fullerton.

Fullerton has had 33 hits, including 15 for extra bases, and scored 31 runs in the last two games.

Kimson Hollibaugh (2-2) pitched 2 2/3 innings in relief of starter Jon Ward to get the victory.

The Titans play New Mexico State at 7 p.m. Friday in the start of a three-game series at Fullerton.

The teams also play at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

In other nonconference baseball:

Chapman 16, Army 8--Abijah Alastra had three hits and four RBIs to lead Chapman (12-13). Ben Mendoza and Chris Briones hit home runs for Chapman.

In nonconference softball:

Cal State Fullerton 7-7, Massachusetts 0-0--Tiffany Boyd pitched a three-hitter with eight strikeouts in the second game for host Fullerton (10-10). Boyd also had two doubles and drove in four runs.

At the Rebel Spring Softball Games in Orlando, Fla:

Chapman 8, Slippery Rock 1--Pitcher Deann Ford gave up two hits and contributed a double for Chapman.

Chapman 4, Northern Kentucky 2--Viki Vechinski gave up six hits for Chapman (8-8).

In nonconference men’s tennis:

Southern California College 6, Colorado State 3--Bobby Carlton won at No. 1 singles, 6-1 and 6-4, to lead Southern California College.
