Jeremy Fischer of Camarillo High and Margarito Casillas of Hoover placed second in the boys’ high jump and two-mile run, respectively, at the National Scholastic Indoor track and field championships Monday in Syracuse, N. Y.

Fischer, a junior, cleared 6 feet 10 3/4 inches in the high jump, the same height as winner Chris Nelson of Klamath Falls (Ore.) High. However, Fischer placed second because of more total misses.

Casillas, a senior, timed 9 minutes 20.64 seconds in the two mile. Kevin Jermyn of Staten Island Tottenville High won in 9:19.43.
