Pick Six, Pick Nine Won on Only $10 in Wagers
A horseplayer who declined to be identified won Santa Anita’s Pick Nine on a $4 ticket and the Pick Six on a $6 ticket on Thursday.
He bet the two tickets at Hollywood Park and returned to cash them Friday. He used two horses in the first race--winner T.O. Nacho and Orphan Monk--in his Pick Nine, then had eight singles. In the ninth race, his selection, Siam Ruler, was scratched by the track veterinarian while on his way to the starting gate, so he picked up the favorite, Courageous Marine, who went on to win by half a length.
In the Pick Six, he used one horse in five of the races and three in the eighth--winner Eskay Creek, Standiford and Enter The Player. Before taxes, he collected $226,709 in the Pick Nine and $6,178.40 in the Pick Six.
