COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : DeCook Wins Three Times for Saddleback Swimmers

Jamie DeCook won the 100 individual medley, 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley to lead Saddleback to a 165-136 victory over Grossmont in an Orange Empire Conference women’s swim meet Friday at Saddleback.

Kristine Palle won the 100 breaststroke and 100 freestyle for the Gauchos (3-2).

In Orange Empire Conference men’s swimming:

Grossmont 129, Saddleback 112--Trevor Rodin won the 500 freestyle in 5 minutes 3.80 seconds for Saddleback (2-3). Kevin Smith finished first in the 1000 freestyle at 10:39.20.

In Orange Empire Conference men’s volleyball:

Irvine Valley 3, Santa Monica 1--Zolti Csanyi had 20 kills for Irvine Valley, which won, 15-6, 15-4, 8-15, 15-2, at Capistrano Valley High School. Jim Butchko added 17 kills, and Brian Godshaw had nine blocks for the Lasers (12-0, 11-0 in conference).
