COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Titans Down Nevada, Extend Streak to 13

Cal State Fullerton freshman Kyle Evans, formerly of Katella High, hit two of the Titans’ five home runs in a 10-1 rout of Nevada in a Big West Conference baseball game Friday at Reno.

Also hitting home runs for the Titans were D.C. Olsen, Tony Banks and Dante Powell. Banks’ homer in the first inning extended his hitting streak to 17 games.

Mike Parisi (6-0) went the distance for the Titans, giving up eight hits.

The victory extended the Titans’ winning streak to 13 games. The Titans (21-7, 10-0) are ranked fourth in this week’s Collegiate Baseball poll.

Nevada fell to 17-6-1 and 0-1.

The two teams will meet again at 1 p.m. today at Reno, with pitcher Dan Ricabal (4-1) starting for the Titans.

In nonconference baseball:

Chapman 6, UC Santa Barbara 4--Designated-hitter Abijah Alastria had two hits, two runs scored and two RBIs, and Trevor Rush had two hits and two RBIs for host Chapman (17-16).

Jared Janke hit two home runs for UC Santa Barbara (11-18-1). Buster Nietzke homered for Chapman.

In the UC Irvine tennis tournament:

UC Irvine 6, UC Santa Barbara 1--The Anteaters, ranked 24th in the nation, won five of six singles matches and advanced to the semifinals. Fred Bach won at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-1, for Irvine (8-8).
