PREP ROUNDUP : Mariano Sets School Record for Kills in El Toro’s Victory Over Dana Hills

El Toro’s Ryan Mariano had 42 kills to set a school record and lead the Chargers to a 15-7, 13-15, 15-12, 15-3 victory over Dana Hills in a South Coast League boys’ volleyball match Friday at Dana Hills High.

Chris Jacobson added 14 kills and Todd Steinert had 70 assists for El Toro (12-3, 2-0). Dana Hills is to 0-2 in league.

In another South Coast League match:

Capistrano Valley 3, San Clemente 1--Eric Seiffert had 29 kills for Capistrano Valley (8-0, 2-0), the No. 1-ranked team in Orange County, which won 15-12, 15-10, 16-18, 15-13. San Clemente is 4-1, 1-1.

In the Garden Grove League:

La Quinta 3, Bolsa Grande 0--Brad Huss had 11 kills for host La Quinta (6-0 in league), which defeated Bolsa Grande, 15-7, 15-0, 15-3. Bolsa Grande is 0-6 in league.

In Olympic League boys’ volleyball:

Calvary Chapel 3, Ontario Christian 0--Jason Greenhalgh and Phillip Schildts each had 16 kills for Calvary Chapel (7-0, 3-0) which won, 15-12, 15-11, 15-10.

In Sunset League boys’ volleyball:

Huntington Beach 3, Fountain Valley 0--Chris Swann had 15 kills for fourth-ranked Huntington Beach (8-0, 6-0), which won 15-5, 15-11, 15-9.

In Orange League boys’ tennis:

Brea-Olinda 14, Savanna 4--Regi Buenviaje and Mark Fisher each won three singles’ sets for Brea-Olinda (9-3, 2-0). Savanna fell to 3-7 and 0-2.

Valencia 15, Magnolia 3--Phong Nguyen swept in singles, 6-1, 6-1, 6-0, for Valencia (8-4, 2-0).
