Taking off With Different Views About Living With Airport Noise

Share

I have lived in the airport area of Orange County for the past 22 years, some of those years in Newport Beach under the airplanes, and at all times have had friends who lived under the takeoff pattern much closer to the airport.

In all those years, one could not talk when an airplane went overhead, and at all times those closer to the airport had mysterious things falling from the skies onto their property. It did not make much difference when procedures were changed or airplanes were changed; it was noisy.

When Mr. Bell bought his home in Santa Ana Heights 10 years ago, he must have known that peace and quiet was not going to be his way of life. And if he thought somehow it was going to get better in the future, he also must believe in the tooth fairy and that Clinton will lower taxes!

I have enjoyed Mr. Bell’s articles for many years and agree with him on most issues, but this one is sour grapes on his part. I don’t have much sympathy for him.
