La Quinta 7, Garden Grove 5--Jimmy Livernois picked up his fourth save as the Aztecs defeated the Argonauts. Aztec left fielder Sean Carlson hit a pair of doubles and scored a run.
In consolation games:
Santiago 6, Savanna 1--Arturo Ruiz had three hits and four RBIs and Ruben Castaneda pitched a three-hitter, allowing no earned runs, for Santiago (4-9) at Brookhurst Park.
Los Amigos 3, Anaheim 2--Jeff Rutherford allowed six hits, no earned runs and struck out six and Jeff Martell had two hits and an RBI for the Lobos (2-7) at Brookhurst Park.
Cerritos 3, Troy 2 (eight innings)--Jeff Elliott had two hits and two RBIs, including the game-winning single in the top of the ninth, for Cerritos (6-8-1). Troy is 10-2-1.
Dana Hills 2, Canyon 1 (eight innings)--John Holm’s two-out single in the top of the eighth inning scored Brian Ralph with the go-ahead run for Dana Hills (9-6). The Dolphins’ Seth Etherton pitched eight innings, striking out 12 and walking one.
Western 9, Laguna Beach 2--Brian Norris had three hits and scored two runs for Western (9-5-1) at Glover Stadium. Norris, a senior second baseman, is nine of 11 in the tournament.
