Proposed Fox Expansion

To suggest that laws protecting our environment, air quality, traffic mitigation, seismic safety and overall zoning should be abandoned to encourage business is, at the very least, shortsighted and it could be disastrous for those who must live with the end results of haphazard planning.

To blame opponents of the Fox expansion for lengthy delays in approvals is to give them too much credit. The blame for the disorganized nature of urban planning in Los Angeles and approval delays should be laid at the feet of the Planning Commission--an oxymoron if ever there was one.

For Fox to request an expansion project is perfectly appropriate. Any business, landowner, homeowner, or developer may ask to renovate and improve property, but for the City of Los Angeles to make extensive and permanent zone changes while putting residential neighborhoods at risk requires careful and prudent planning.

The Times states that Fox has reasonably addressed most of the objections to the project. But to this date, Fox has not even presented a simple site plan to the Planning Commission or to the communities that surround these 53 acres. The homeowners have requested this for three years.
