A Malibu city planner was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of shoplifting $359 worth of goods from a Thousand Oaks department store, authorities said.
John Gottlieb, 33, was detained by security personnel at the Sears, Roebuck & Co. store in the Janss Mall after he was spotted allegedly trying to take a pair of binoculars and a tent, said Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike De Los Santos.
After placing Gottlieb under arrest, security notified the Sheriff’s Department at 7:15 p.m., De Los Santos said.
