Servite’s Matt Muller has signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Loyola Marymount, Servite officials said Monday.

Muller is a two-year starter at catcher. He hit .333 with a home run and 15 runs batted in last season.

Carrie Dolan said it was extremely difficult watching her teammates this season before she finally joined the team the first of April. Los Alamitos was No. 2 in the Orange County softball rankings and had a 12-1 record before she pitched a game. Pretty tough for a senior projected to be the No. 1 pitcher.

Dolan initially didn’t go out for softball this year. She had suffered a stress fracture in her arm last year but, she said, it wasn’t diagnosed. So she continued pitching and the fracture got worse in August. She couldn’t pitch for eight months.

“My doctor said I wasn’t supposed to play this year,” Dolan said. “I went to a different doctor, and he said I should start pitching so my arm would get circulation and my muscle tissue would regenerate.

“I wanted to play my senior year. I think we can win (the Southern Section title). I wanted to be here--I’ve known everyone since kindergarten.

“It totally bummed me out that I couldn’t play.”

In Dolan’s absence, junior Debbie Wilson was 7-0 and junior Sheri Bergeron was 5-2. That presents a problem for Coach Jami Shannon.

“We’re going to try to go with (Dolan) as much as possible,” Shannon said. “But on any given day, we’ve got three girls who can pitch. The key for us is to hit the ball and score runs.”
