The Division I-AA era began at Cal State Northridge Monday when 62 players reported for the start of spring football practice.
The Matadors open Sept. 4 at San Diego State, featuring Heisman Trophy candidate Marshall Faulk.
Coley Kyman, the top candidate for the quarterback position, will be a limited participant because of his commitment to the volleyball team, for whom he is a two-time All-American. Baseball team members James Woods and Matt Ornelaz are participating on a full-time basis.
