ROUNDUP : Buckley’s Jacksons Take Stage

Freshman T.J. Jackson hit three home runs and his brother, Taryll, pitched a complete game and doubled twice Tuesday to lead visiting Buckley High to a 12-3 victory over Faith Baptist in a Delphic League baseball game.

The home runs were the first of T.J.’s high school career. He went four for four, scored five runs and had four runs batted in.

Taryll (3-2), a senior, recorded nine strikeouts. He went three for five and scored twice for the Griffins (7-5, 2-2 in league play).

In other high school baseball games:

Monroe 6, Canoga Park 1--Jorge Dorado pitched a four-hitter and went two for three and drove in a run in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game. The host Vikings improved to 11-3, 8-1.

Taft 12, Reseda 3--Warren Stewart pitched a complete game and added three hits for the visiting Toreadors (14-4, 5-4) in a Northwest Valley Conference game.

Palmdale 5, Antelope Valley 4--Bobby Harmon tripled with two out in the top of the seventh, driving in Luis Alcarez with the decisive run in a Golden League game.

Harmon pitched three shutout innings in relief for the win.

Santa Paula 11, Santa Clara 1--The host Cardinals took over first place in the Frontier League. Brian Whittaker went four for four with a two-run homer.

David Qualls (2-1) pitched five strong innings to earn the victory.

Santa Paula is 10-6, 5-2 in league play. Santa Clara is 5-5, 4-2.

Hueneme 5, Ventura 2 (9 innings)--Steve Barrios’ bases-loaded squeeze bunt with none out in the top of the ninth pushed across the go-ahead run, then Raudell Florez (four stolen bases) singled with the infield drawn in to add two insurance runs.

Kennedy 8, Granada Hills 6--Devin Connolly was three for four with three runs, leading the visiting Golden Cougars (16-2, 7-2) to a North Valley League victory.

JUNIOR COLLEGE BASEBALL

Valley 8, Oxnard 7 (16 innings)--Doug Rubin scored the go-ahead run on an error by the Oxnard first baseman in the top of the 16th inning in a Western State Conference game at Oxnard.

Juan Velasquez (1-1) got the win for Valley (16-12-1, 15-7-1) and Jason Vargas earned the save.

Canyons 6, Santa Monica 2--Left-hander Jason Chandler scattered four hits to lead the visiting Cougars (23-6, 20-2) in a WSC game.

Pierce 7, Moorpark 6--Adam Perlman’s two-out single on a 3-and-2 pitch in the top of the ninth drove in pinch-runner Carl Grissom from third. Grissom was running for Kevin Milligan, who had doubled with one out.

Ventura 6, Santa Barbara 4--Relief pitcher Marco Grajales set a school record with his seventh save of the season, and Tighe Curran (6-5) pitched eight innings to get the victory for Ventura (16-15, 11-12) in a WSC game at Santa Barbara.

Grajales, a freshman from Hueneme High, broke the record of six saves, set by Ed Leger in 1988.

Mission 13, L.A. City 2--The Free Spirit exploded for eight hits and 12 runs in the fourth inning of a Southern California Athletic Conference game.

Robert Garcia went three for four and Gary Matthews had two hits and five RBIs for Mission (21-12, 11-5).

GIRLS’ SOFTBALL

Camarillo 1, Newbury Park 0--Laura Richardson struck out 12 and the host Scorpions (11-4, 5-2) scored on an error in the second inning of a Marmonte League game.

Newbury Park is 9-2, 6-2.

Hoover 1, Arcadia 0--Nancy Evans threw her 47th shutout and struck out nine in a Pacific League game for the host Tornadoes (16-0-1, 2-0).

Quartz Hill 5, Littlerock 0--Sophomore Correna Berlinger pitched her first no-hitter for the Rebels (11-5, 7-1), with only a sixth-inning walk keeping her from a perfect game in a Golden League game.

Berlinger struck out 14.
