Driver Stricken by Heart Attack Runs Into Tree, Dies

WESTMINSTER — A 55-year-old man, who apparently suffered a heart attack while driving down Golden West Street on Tuesday morning, swerved into oncoming traffic before crashing into a tree, police said.
John R. Spaulding of Brea died at Garden Grove Hospital and Medical Center shortly after the 8:57 a.m. accident.
Spaulding was near Hood Street when his car swerved into oncoming northbound traffic but didn’t hit any cars. Spaulding eventually went over a curb and ran into a tree on the east side of the street, police said.
