ROUNDUP : Suppan Zeros In on Chaminade and Crespi Wins Its 10th in a Row, 11-0

Jeff Suppan recorded his fourth consecutive shutout and extended his scoreless-innings streak to 39 as Crespi High routed Chaminade, 11-0, in a Mission League baseball game Wednesday at Valley College.
Suppan, a senior right-hander who will attend UCLA, pitched a three-hitter and struck out eight. It was Suppan’s fifth shutout of the season, lowering his earned-run average to 0.51 in 68 innings.
Crespi (21-2, 11-0 in league) has won 10 consecutive games.
Brad Farlow was three for four, scored three runs and had three runs batted in. Jeff Herrera was three for four and drove in a run.
In other high school baseball games:
Newbury Park 11, Thousand Oaks 6--The Panthers (15-7, 10-1) had 14 hits, seven of them doubles, in the Marmonte League game at Thousand Oaks to remain a game behind first-place Simi Valley.
Newbury Park will play at Simi Valley on Friday.
Rich Adams capped a four-run fifth inning with a three-run home run. Ray Collins was three for three, including a pair of doubles, and drove in five runs. Daniel Kadosono also had two doubles.
Junior right-hander Ray Clinton (7-1) was chased in the fourth inning when Thousand Oaks (14-9, 5-6) rallied for five runs.
Clint Harris and Greg Manara each had two hits for the Lancers.
Simi Valley 11, Agoura 4--Kevin Nykoluk and Ryan Hankins hit solo home runs for the Pioneers (21-2, 11-0) in a Marmonte League game at Simi Valley.
Bill Scheffels pitched five innings to earn the victory. Joe Smith hit a two-run home run for Agoura (4-16, 1-9).
Royal 9, Camarillo 7--Gene Strojek’s three-run homer sparked a six-run fourth inning and the Highlanders (13-8, 8-3) held on to beat Camarillo (6-16, 2-9) in a Marmonte League game.
Royal regained the lead, 6-4, on Strojek’s homer before scoring three more runs in the inning for a five-run lead.
Camarillo answered with three runs in the sixth, but could not overcome its five errors.
Bell-Jeff 7, St. Genevieve 6--Pinch-runner Jerry Villanea scored from second base on an overthow in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Guards a Camino Real League victory.
Mark Dodd was three for four and drove in a run for Bell-Jeff (7-12, 2-5).
Bishop Montgomery 11, Alemany 7--Home runs accounted for all of Alemany’s scoring, but the Indians couldn’t hold leads of 4-0 and 7-6. Chris Tashima hit two-run homers in the first and third innings (his sixth and seventh of the season) to give Alemany its 4-0 lead.
John Tucker (two-run shot, his fifth) and Andy Dominique (bases empty, his sixth) each homered in the fifth to help turn a 6-4 deficit into a 7-6 lead for the Indians.
Bishop Montgomery scored four runs in the fifth, four in the sixth and one in the seventh of the Mission League game.
Notre Dame 18, Harvard-Westlake 2--The Knights scored in every inning and used the long ball in the Mission League rout.
Ryan Stromsborg, who drove in six runs, hit a grand slam in the fifth inning. Joey Orlando (three for five, four RBIs) hit a three-run shot in the seventh. Glen Carson had a two-run blast in the fourth.
Tyler Atwood and Ryan Schultz hit bases-empty home runs in the sixth and seventh for the Wolverines, but they couldn’t touch Notre Dame starter Chris Leveque (8-1), who struck out six, walked one and allowed three hits in five innings.
HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL
Alemany 4, Louisville 0--Alba Cano had two hits to back the two-hit pitching of sophomore Sophie Contreras (17-2) in a Mission League game at Alemany.
Contreras allowed one walk and struck out none. It was the 16th shutout of her career at Alemany (17-4), which is ranked ninth in the state in Division II.
Hoover 5, Glendale 0--Nancy Evans notched the 50th shutout of her career with a five-hitter in a Pacific League game at Hoover.
Evans (20-1) had 12 strikeouts and also hit a double.
Sylmar 17, Van Nuys 3--The Spartans (17-4, 9-0) clinched a share of the Mid-Valley League title by beating Van Nuys (3-11, 0-9) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game.
Sonia Garcia led Sylmar’s 12-hit attack with three hits, including a double and a triple, and five RBIs.
Chaminade 5, St. Bernard 1--Victoria Corona went three for three with two RBIs to lead the Eagles (11-9, 5-5) past St. Bernard (8-11, 3-6) in a Mission League game.
COLLEGE SOFTBALL
Moorpark 3, Canyons 2 (11 innings)--Amy Ecklund hit a two-run home run in the 11th inning of a Western State Conference playoff game to give the Raiders the top seeding for the regional playoffs.
Canyons had scored in the top of the 11th to take a 2-1 lead. Marcie James (8-11) went the distance for the victory. Moorpark (15-14) and Canyons (17-9) finished as co-champions with 8-2 conference records.
