Tom Weiskopf and Gibby Gilbert, taking advantage of Barton Creek’s rain-softened greens, shot seven-under-par 65s to share the first-round lead in the 54-hole Legends of Golf at Austin, Tex.
George Archer, Al Geiberger, and J.C. Snead were at 66. Three shots behind the leaders were Lee Trevino, Raymond Floyd, and Arnold Palmer.
Chi Chi Rodriguez provided the most exciting shot of the day, a hole in one on the 165-yard par-three ninth hole.
